Strong, long and shiny hair is everyone’s dream. Usually our hair grows up to 6 inches in a year and apart from that there are many factors like age, diet, genetics, health, etc which are responsible for the hair growth. Out of these, age and genetics cannot change, however, you can change your diet accordingly to improve the overall health. Diet should be balanced and full of every nutrients to meet every requirement of the body. Diet with all the essential nutrients helps hair grow faster. Here are some hair growth foods which you can include in your diet.

  1. Eggs:

Two nutrients are essential for hair growth protein and biotin. Eggs are rich in all these nutrients. Hair follicles are made up of proteins and protein deprived diet affects the hair growth and promotes hair loss. Biotin is helpful for the production of hair protein called keratin. Biotin deficiency leads to poor hair growth and hair loss. Eggs are a great source of zinc, selenium and other hair friendly nutrients. 

  1. Berries:

Berries are rich in nutrients which are essential for hair growth. They are rich in Vitamin C which has antioxidant properties. These antioxidants protect the hair follicles from harmful chemicals like free radicals which are naturally present in the environment and body. Vitamin C helps in producing collagen which is the strengthening factor for the hair strands and protects them from breakage. 

  1. Spinach:

Spinach is a vegetable which is fully loaded with the essential nutrients like folate, Vitamin C and A and iron which promote hair growth. Vitamin A helps in sebaceous glands to produce sebum. Sebum is essential for the moisturization of the scalp for healthy hair and scalp. Iron helps in transportation of the oxygen throughout the body for the cell repair mechanism and prevents hair fall. This is one of the best hair growth foods.

  1. Fatty fish:

There are many varieties of fishes which are really helpful in promoting hair growth such as salmon, mackerel, herring etc. They are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for the long, shiny and strong hair. Fishes are rich in antioxidants which prevent hair loss and increase hair density. If you take fish oil supplements on a regular basis, the thickness of hair improves and also promotes hair growth. Fish is rich in selenium, protein, Vitamin B and D3 which are essential nutrients for hair growth.

  1. Sweet potatoes:

Sweet potatoes are rich in beta carotene. Our body has a capability to convert this compound into Vitamin A and this vitamin is extremely essential for hair growth. Vitamin A helps in regulating the sebum production which nourishes the scalp and makes it healthy for good hair growth. It also helps in making the hair follicle stronger.
